X-Acto Knives

X-Acto knives are precision cutting tools with replaceable blades, widely used by crafters, modellers, artists, and designers. The different numbered blades are designed for specific tasks and are used with corresponding handles.

There are two main types of knives:

• X-Acto #1 Knife: This is a lightweight knife designed for delicate, precision cutting. It is ideal for cutting and trimming lightweight materials such as paper, thin board, tissue, thin plastic, and balsa wood. It is most commonly used with the #11 blade, which is known for its fine point and versatility.
• X-Acto #2 Knife: This is a medium to heavyweight knife designed for more demanding cutting tasks. It is suitable for cutting thicker materials like foam board, mat board, thicker plastics, and wood. It is used with a different set of larger blades, such as the #2 blade, and is not compatible with the #11 blade.

Both knives feature an aluminum handle for a firm grip and balanced control, and both have a simple system for changing blades. The choice between the two depends on the material you are cutting, with the #1 knife being for light-duty work and the #2 knife for medium to heavy-duty projects.
