When to Avoid Standard UHU All Purpose Glue

To preserve the structural integrity of your projects, keep these technical limitations in mind when executing precision scale work:

• Styrofoam and Polystyrene Foam: Do not use standard UHU All Purpose glue on Styrofoam or delicate foam boards, as the volatile solvents within the mixture will instantly melt and destroy the material. For foam projects, utilise UHU POR instead.
• Fine and Micro Detailing: Because of its thicker, honey like consistency, this adhesive can occasionally become stringy during fine application, making it less suitable for attaching microscopic scale components. UHU Hart is best suited for this, with it's supplied tapered fine dosing tip.
• Industrial Hard Plastics: For assembly of standard injection moulded scale plastic kits, specialised polystyrene cements or UHU All Plastics should be utilised instead, as they chemically weld the plastic interfaces together for a superior bond.

Best Practices for Precision Model Making

• Surface Preparation: Ensure all mating parts are completely clean, dry, and free from workshop dust or manufacturing grease. When working with smooth metals or non porous plastics, slightly roughen the joining surfaces with fine emery paper first to maximize physical grip.
• Standard Thin Application: Apply a thin, uniform layer of liquid glue to one side of your assembly and press the components together immediately.
• The Double Application Method: If you are joining two strictly non absorbent materials, such as metals, glazed ceramics, or heavily coated papers, apply a thin layer to both sides of the assembly. Allow them to dry completely, re apply a fresh thin coat, and press the parts firmly together for an instant bond.
• Immediate Cleanup Routine: Wipe away any wet excess glue stains immediately with a clean cloth. If you encounter dried glue residue or stains on your workshop clothing, they can be easily dissolved and removed using acetone, though you should check the underlying fabric compatibility first.
