Features
  • Authentic Miniature Vegetation: A premium natural material used to represent hyper-realistic trees, bushes, and dense undergrowth in architectural models, railway layouts, and scenic dioramas.
  • Glycerine-Treated for Pliability: Unlike raw dried lichen, which is brittle and hard, this material is professionally softened with glycerine to ensure it remains flexible, easy to handle, and resistant to crumbling over time.
  • Natural Grey-Green Aesthetic: Retains its classic, organic grey-green hue, widely considered the most realistic tone for mimicking the subtle textures of wild forests and cool-climate shrubbery.
  • Highly Adaptable Texturing: The intricate, branching structure of the lichen provides natural detail that is difficult to replicate with synthetic materials, offering a professional finish for high-end presentation models.
  • Effortless Customisation: Can be easily modified by plucking small sections for fine detailing or using scissors to prune larger clusters into specific topiary shapes or tree canopies.
  • Sustainable Sourcing: Collected from cool, moist climates globally, this lichen provides an environmentally friendly, biodegradable solution for landscaping and organic site modelling.
  • Multi-Scale Utility: Due to its fine, irregular texture, it can represent everything from low-lying moss and weeds in 1:12 scale to large, sprawling forests in smaller architectural scales.

Description

Forests of Iceland lichen are not only found in Iceland - this miniature vegetation can be found in many other cool and moist climates around the world. When dried, the lichen is actually very hard and so, for model making purposes (architectural, dioramas), it is softened with glycerine and coloured. Its natural colour of grey-green is, however, still the most beautiful. When used to represent trees and bushes in model making, the lichen should be cut with a scissors or plucked into the desired shape.
