Features
  • Industrial-Grade Structural Strength: Originally engineered as engine bearers for high-performance RC aircraft, these beech strips offer the superior density and load-bearing capacity required for primary structural frameworks.
  • Smooth-Planed Hardwood Finish: Each strip features a high-quality, smooth-planed surface, providing a professional and consistent aesthetic for architectural massing, furniture prototypes, and high-end model engineering.
  • Optimised 304mm Length: Supplied in a versatile 12-inch (304mm) format, these shorter-length timbers offer a cost-effective and easy-to-handle solution for intricate bench-top fabrication and small-scale component design.
  • Superior Finishing Characteristics: The tight-grained beech responds exceptionally well to sanding sealers and wood glues; when treated, it maintains a high-gloss professional finish for presentation-grade models.
  • Versatile Dimensional Selection: Available in a range of square and rectangular profiles, these strips can be easily modified with standard wood saws to create precision joints, bracing, and mechanical supports.

Description

Square and rectangular beech strips.

This range of beech strips was designed as engine bearers for remote control aircraft but ideal for scratch model building, architectural modelling and prototyping.

We are stocking them as a shorter-length timber to give you further choice.

  • Length: 304mm long
  • Dimensions: various (see options)
  • Strong and smooth-planed.
  • Cut with a wood saw.
  • Glue with a good quality PVA/wood glue.

As with all timbers, prime before adding a top coat. Coat with sanding sealer if varnishing - this will afford maximum protection from the varnish (and help retain full gloss finish when using a gloss varnish)
