Features
  • Extruded polystyrene (XPS): dense, closed-cell foam that is stronger and more rigid than standard bead foam, at around 33 kg/m.
  • Easy to shape: cuts, carves, sands and planes cleanly without crumbling, holding crisp edges and fine detail.
  • Ideal for hot-wire cutting: fine, uniform cells give smooth curves, organic forms and accurate geometric shapes.
  • Neutral dark grey colour: an understated finish that shows off shadow and form in presentation and massing models.
  • Laminates and paints well: bonds with polystyrene-safe adhesives such as UHU Por or PVA, and takes water-based paints and coatings.
  • Wide range of uses: ideal for architectural models, landscape and terrain, scenery, product prototypes and film props.

The versatility of Styrofoam is the reason why its the number one choice of material used by model makers, war gamers, flower arrangers and crafters alike. Extruded polystyrene is well-established as a model making material and Styrofoam has quickly become the product of choice for making everything from model boats and railways to architectural models and model scenery.
