Description
Finnboard (Finnish Wood Pulp Board) Natural Beige
The Professional Standard for Architectural and Structural Modelling
Finnboard is widely regarded as the premier choice for professional architectural model making and high precision prototyping. Composed of pure, nature coloured ground wood pulp, it offers a warm, ivory beige aesthetic and a slightly textured surface that brings a natural, organic character to structural studies.
Unlike standard greyboard, Finnboard is significantly lighter in weight and offers superior resistance to warping. This makes it the most reliable medium for high precision construction.
Key Performance Features
- High Strength to Weight Ratio: Despite its low basis weight, Finnboard features an extremely high density. This makes it exceptionally strong, stable, and tear resistant.
- Precision Processing: The board is easy to manipulate. It can be cleanly cut with a craft knife or laser cut for intricate designs. It also supports creasing, grooving, punching, and laser engraving, even on thicker sheets.
- Superior Stability: Engineered to resist sagging and warping, it is ideal for large scale mock ups and volumetric studies.
- Sustainable and Acid Free: Produced mechanically from renewable wood without the use of harsh chemicals. It is acid free, recyclable, and environmentally responsible.
Working with Finnboard
- Adhesives: Compatible with white glue (PVA), universal glues, and liquid spray adhesives. For heavy duty bonding on thicker sheets, wood glue is recommended for its high adhesive strength.
- Assembly Tip: Edges can be secured with masking tape during the drying process. For rapid assembly, hot glue guns are also effective.
- Finishing: Minor imperfections or rough edges can be easily smoothed using fine emery paper. The surface is suitable for laminating, printing, painting, or distressing to simulate materials like masonry or sand blasted concrete.
- Light Sensitivity: As a pure wood pulp product, Finnboard is not lightfast. It will naturally darken or patina when exposed to direct sunlight over time.
