Description

Acrylic Glass XT Round Rods - Colourless & High-Clarity (1000mm)

These extruded (XT) acrylic glass round rods are a staple for professionals requiring high transparency and optical clarity in a rigid profile. Featuring a brilliant, glossy surface, these rods are exceptionally versatileproviding a sleek, contemporary aesthetic for architectural features and a reliable structural component for lighting and industrial prototypes.

Applications:

  • Architectural Model Making: An essential material for representing glazing supports, contemporary columns, or lighting fixtures in high-end site models. The high transparency allows architects to create "invisible" supports or light-piping effects to illuminate internal spaces within a model.
  • Film & TV Production: Ideal for creating high-tech props, futuristic set details, or lightweight structural elements that need to remain inconspicuous on camera. The rods can be combined with LEDs to create glowing light tubes or scientific equipment props.
  • Prototyping & Industrial Design: Used frequently in the development of point-of-sale displays, furniture mock-ups, and functional prototypes where visual clarity is paramount. The material is rigid and durable, making it suitable for structural frames in ergonomic studies.
  • Lighting Design: Due to the material's excellent light-conducting properties, these rods are often used to create bespoke light installations or as diffusers in prototype luminaires.

Key Features:

  • Exceptional Optical Clarity: Perfectly colourless and transparent, these rods allow for maximum light transmission and a clean, high-end finish.
  • High-Gloss Surface: Supplied with a smooth, glossy finish that enhances the "premium" look of professional presentation models.
  • Versatile Workability: Acrylic XT can be sawn, drilled, and milled with ease. For a perfect finish, edges and surfaces can be polished back to high transparency using specialised acrylic polishing pastes.
  • Extruded (XT) Precision: Manufactured to high industrial standards, ensuring a consistent profile along the full 1000mm length. Please note: Extruded rods may have a diameter tolerance of 1 mm, particularly in larger sizes.

Technical Specifications:

  • Material: Extruded Acrylic (PMMA XT)
  • Colour: Colourless/Transparent
  • Surface: Glossy (Unprotected)
  • Diameters: See options
  • Length: 1000mm
  • Maintenance: As these rods are supplied without a protective film, minor micro-scratches may occur during transit; these are easily removed with professional acrylic polish.
